BMCC Apprenticeship Training Programs: Earn While You Learn The Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) Apprenticeship Program, part of the Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development, provides New Yorkers with the opportunity to earn while they learn in high-demand technology fields. As a New York State Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP), participants gain hands-on training through full time employment, primarily at the main campus IT Department, while completing related classroom instruction approved by the state. Apprentices receive guided mentorship from experienced professionals, build real-world skills, and gain access to industry-recognized certifications. Each apprenticeship pathway is designed to support career advancement, helping participants transition into sustainable, well-paying positions while earning college credits that can be applied toward a BMCC associate degree. BMCC’s apprenticeship model connects education to employment through structured, immersive experiences lasting 12 to 18 months. Central Sterile Processing Program BMCC’s 10-week Sterile Processing Technician Certificate Program is designed to present the basic concepts and principles for developing skills and competencies required for infection prevention and control in the sterile processing department in a health care facility. This course will offer knowledge in cleaning, disinfecting, decontamination, sterilization, Standard precautions, and Universal precautions. Writing assignments as appropriate to the discipline are part of the course. The 8-week class lab portion will allow the student to practice the theory offered during class lecture.
Required textbook (Student's Responsibility): Sterile Processing Technical Manual (CRCST 9th Edition). Students served: This program is designed for allied health professionals desiring a career in sterile processing in a health care environment. The student completing this course will develop the entry-level knowledge and skills necessary to function as a Sterile Processing Technologist. Successful completion of this program will earn students a BMCC Certificate of Completion and prepare you to sit for the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Examination (with Provisional Certification). Hybrid Hemodialysis Training Instructor Lead Virtual Lessons with in-person Clinical BMCC in partnership with Dialysis4Career have modified our Hemodialysis Training to include both virtual, instructor led lessons along with in-person clinical. The course is 100 hours total. 60 hours will be virtual with 40 hours in-person clinical working with the hemodialysis machines at our 25 Broadway and CUNY in The Heights location. Tuition is $2,210.
