The Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) Apprenticeship Program, part of the Center for Continuing Education and Workforce Development, provides New Yorkers with the opportunity to earn while they learn in high-demand technology fields. As a New York State Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP), participants gain hands-on training through full time employment, primarily at the main campus IT Department, while completing related classroom instruction approved by the state. Apprentices receive guided mentorship from experienced professionals, build real-world skills, and gain access to industry-recognized certifications. Each apprenticeship pathway is designed to support career advancement, helping participants transition into sustainable, well-paying positions while earning college credits that can be applied toward a BMCC associate degree.

BMCC’s apprenticeship model connects education to employment through structured, immersive experiences lasting 12 to 18 months. Apprentices benefit from personalized academic and career support, while employers gain a pipeline of skilled and job-ready talent. Programs include tracks in Computer Network Support, Cloud Engineering, and Security Analysis (Cybersecurity)  which are industries driving New York City’s innovation economy. The Cannabis Manufacturing Technician track focuses on the production side of the cannabis industry, including cultivation, extraction, and product manufacturing. Students will learn about quality control, the equipment used in processing, and how to meet industry standards while maintaining safety and compliance with cannabis regulations.

The Cannabis Retail Management track provides students with the skills to manage a cannabis retail business effectively. Topics include customer service, sales strategies, inventory management, employee training, and understanding the legal and regulatory environment for cannabis retail operations. Students will also learn how to optimize the customer experience while ensuring compliance with local laws.

The Cannabis Security Solutions track prepares students to manage security for cannabis operations, covering topics like risk management, security systems, surveillance, and compliance with state and federal cannabis laws. Students will gain practical knowledge to design and implement security measures that protect both the product and the business from theft, fraud, and other risks.

BMCC’s 10-week Sterile Processing Technician Certificate Program is designed to present the basic concepts and principles for developing skills and competencies required for infection prevention and control in the sterile processing department in a health care facility. This course will offer knowledge in cleaning, disinfecting, decontamination, sterilization, Standard precautions, and Universal precautions.  Writing assignments as appropriate to the discipline are part of the course. The 8-week class lab portion will allow the student to practice the theory offered during class lecture.    

Required textbook (Student's Responsibility): Sterile Processing Technical Manual (CRCST 9th Edition).

Students served: This program is designed for allied health professionals desiring a career in sterile processing in a health care environment.  The student completing this course will develop the entry-level knowledge and skills necessary to function as a Sterile Processing Technologist. 

Successful completion of this program will earn students a BMCC Certificate of Completion and prepare you to sit for the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Examination (with Provisional Certification).

Writers, musicians, cooks, visual artists, and costume makers have preserved the stories, values, and traditions of people who fought (and continue to fight) inequality. Gay Mardi Gras is amazing and beautiful and fierce, and the street art and murals are world-class. And of course, New Orleans’ beloved jazz music became the soundtrack for the civil rights movement of the 20th century.

Class will examine how civil rights movements happened in this city, from the earliest days all the way to the removal of confederate monuments and Black Lives Matter. Learn about the passing down of native and West African folktales, the writings of gay authors in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and a legendary Creole restaurateur who was also a painter and civil rights leader.

Instructor Lead Virtual Lessons with in-person Clinical

BMCC in partnership with Dialysis4Career have modified our Hemodialysis Training to include both virtual, instructor led lessons along with in-person clinical.

The course is 100 hours total. 60 hours will be virtual with 40 hours in-person clinical working with the hemodialysis machines at our 25 Broadway and CUNY in The Heights location. Tuition is $2,210.

Yes.  This course will prepare you for the NHA certification.  This course consists of practical hands-on experience through simulation HIT software application.  

Course Objectives

• The course will cover Basic Anatomy and Physiology; medical terminology relating to organ systems and familiarize the students with common causes and symptoms of diseases.  Current Procedural Terminology and International Classification of Diseases guidelines will be covered.  Commonly used medical abbreviations, symbols, acronyms, billing terminology, CMS-1500 Form and HIPAA guidelines will be discussed.
